Grupo Bimbo launches its program "Comprometidos con el Medio Ambiente" and Attains 20 Industria Limpia Certifications in 2007

The Secretary for the Environment grants a special acknowledgement to Grupo Bimbo for having attained 20 “Industria Limpia” certifications for its plants.

Today, Grupo Bimbo launched its program: “Comprometidos con el Medio Ambiente” (Committed with the Environment), in the presence of Mr. Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada, Secretary for the Environment and Natural Resources, and Mr. Ignacio Loyola Vera, Federal Attorney General for the Environment, among other distinguished personalities of the Local and Federal governments.

The ceremony to launch the “Comprometidos con el Medio Ambiente” program started with a tour of the Bimbo Azcapotzalco Plant, during which the “Industria Limpia” (Clean Industry) certificate -granted by the Federal Government to environment friendly and responsible companies- was presented.

Note worthy is the fact that Grupo Bimbo has attained the “Industria Limpia” certification for 20 of its plants. The goal for 2008, is to have 100% of its plants attain the certificate. This positions Grupo Bimbo as one of the companies most committed with environmental sustainability in the Country, which has made two of its plants the recipients of the “Premio de Excelencia Ambiental 2006” (2006 Environmental Excellence Award).
