The San Luis Potosi Bimbo plant received the Clean Industry certificate at a ceremony that was presided over by Ing. Raul Tornel y Cruz, Assistant Environmental Attorney of the Federal Attorney’s Office for the Protection of the Environment and where Fernando Lopez Palau, the State’s Secretary of Economic Development, was also present, along with other important figures.
Jesus Maria Aguilar Sandoval, the Plant Manager received this certificate in representation of the firm. This acknowledgement forms part of a series that Bimbo has already received in the State of San Luis Potosi. On the basis of this, Bimbo strengthens its leadership position both in the national as well as in the exports markets.
In making reference to such an important achievement, Ing. Ramon Rivera, Director of Operations at Bimbo commented “That the Clean Industry certificate was granted to Bimbo for having complied with the environmental rules and regulations applicable to the industrial and services activities as well as for the company’s rational use of natural resources. An environmental audit was conducted, which included a systematic and comprehensive revision of the company in regard to its procedures and practices, all with the purpose of verifying the degree of compliance in environmental matters and as a result, the mentioned certificate was issued”.
The environmental audit that was carried out contemplated the efficiency and ecological employment of inputs such as potable water, fuels and the consumption of electric power, in addition to the atmospheric emissions and wastewater discharges, aspects in which the plant had measurements way below the parameters recommended by the authorities themselves, and much of the waste such as cardboard, sack / bags, wood, organic and inorganic waste, to mention some, are re-cycled.
