Barcel Mexicali,
plant 100 of Grupo Bimbo and the second production plant that will be devoted mainly to the manufacture of exporting products
With the attendance of Mr. José Guadalupe Osuna Millán, Governor of Baja California, Organización Barcel inaugurated today Barcel Mexicali, plant 100 of Grupo Bimbo and the second production plant that will be devoted mainly to the manufacture of exporting products.
Also in attendance were Mr. Roberto Servitje, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Bimbo; Mr. Daniel Servitje, CEO of Grupo Bimbo; Mr. Francisco José Pérez Tejada Padilla, Mayor of Mexicali; Dr. Alejandro Mungaray Lagarda, Secretary of Economic Development of Baja California, as well as Mr. Gabino Gómez Carbajal, President of Organizacion Barcel, S.A., among other distinguished personalities.
Daniel Servitje, CEO of Grupo Bimbo said that the Mexicali Barcel Plant is the third plant in the state of Baja California and for a considerable margin, it will produce the highest volume of Grupo Bimbo’s exports, he added that: “With the installation of this new operation we will continue to increase the number of jobs in the State, generating direct jobs in our Barcel and Bimbo operations for 2 thousand 966 people today”.
Today Barcel is one of the largest snack production companies in the country. It has a sustained growth and its brands have presence nationally and internationally. Barcel, a proudly Mexican company, exports its products to countries like the United States, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.
On the other hand, Mr. Gabino Gómez Carbajal, President of Organizacion Barcel said: “This production plant in Mexicali manufactures corn snacks such as Takis and Chipotles, and it will have 8 production lines where it will also produce Tostachos, which are part of the school snack portfolio that were authorized by the Secretariats of Education and Health to be sold in elementary schools of the State and throughout the country starting in January 2011.
