Grupo Bimbo and Grupo Arcor executives inaugurated the Mundo Dulce plant with President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, and Governor Enrique Peña Nieto attending, together with distinguished Federal and State public administration officials.
Mundo Dulce is the result of a strategic alliance between Grupo Bimbo and Grupo Arcor, and the fruit of a sound business relationship between these two companies that envisioned the opportunity in October 2005, of coordinating their production and distribution expertise in order to meet market demands more efficiently.
Barcel S.A., Grupo Bimbo subsidiary, is currently the exclusive distributor in Mexico of Bon o Bon brand products. On the other hand, Grupo Arcor produces seasonal Ricolino brand products for the Argentinean market.
Mundo Dulce required 60 million in national and foreign investments and will create nearly 900 direct jobs and 400 indirect ones for Mexican workers.
Currently, Mundo Dulce has 14 production lines, with an installed capacity of 35,000 tons per year and puts out over 150 products. This makes it the third plant in the confectionery industry in Mexico and one of the largest in Latin America.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Daniel Servitje, Grupo Bimbo CEO, said that Mundo Dulce is a socially responsible enterprise concerned over the environment; it follows the best corporate practices and implements the most advanced manufacturing technologies of candies and sweets for the National and global markets, whilst meeting world-class standards of quality, hygiene and safety.
