Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, announces the 2019 Bimbo Global Energy Race. For the fifth year in a row this unique global event will promote family togetherness and also advocate for the adoption of a healthy, active lifestyle. The race will be held on September 22, 2019, in 36 cities across 22 countries.
In keeping with tradition, for the fourth time this will be a race with a cause, as Grupo Bimbo will donate to food banks two slices of bread for every kilometer traveled by each participant. In addition to motivating participants, this initiative aids the most vulnerable sectors of society. This year’s goal is to exceed the 1.4 million slices of bread that were donated after the 2018 Bimbo Global Energy Race.
Alfonso Argudín, Global Marketing Director at Grupo Bimbo, commented, “We are pleased to announce the fifth annual Bimbo Global Energy Race, which will take place on the same day in 22 countries and 36 cities. We invite friends and families to get together and participate in this unique and most important Grupo Bimbo event worldwide. In addition, we will be helping those who need it most, because it’s an event with a cause. See you on September 22!”
As in past years, the Bimbo Global Energy Race t-shirt and medal are both collectibles. This year the distinctive image of the tango, which is emblematic of Argentina, will be used. In 2016, the Temple of Heaven in Beijing was used. The following year, Christ the Redeemer, the iconic statue in Rio de Janeiro, was adopted, and in 2018, Madrid’s statue the Bear and the Strawberry Tree was the distinctive image. All of them are cultural symbols of inspiration, persistence, and globality.
The cities in Mexico in which this great global event will take place are: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Torreón and Veracruz.
Internationally, the race will be held in: Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; Toronto, Canada; Beijing and Tianjin in China; Santiago, Chile; Bogotá and Cali, Colombia; San Jose, Costa Rica; Guayaquil, Ecuador; San Salvador, El Salvador; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; New Delhi, India; Casablanca, Morocco; Panama City, Panama; Asunción, Paraguay; Lima, Peru; Lisbon and Porto in Portugal; Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Montevideo, Uruguay; Sheffield, United Kingdom; Dallas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Los Angeles in the United States.
It is important to mention that the final winners in the women’s and men’s categories in the 10K race will win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 2020 Bimbo Global Energy Race in Buenos Aires.
Grupo Bimbo’s purpose is to build a sustainable, highly productive and deeply humane company. With initiatives such as the Global Energy Race, the world’s largest baking company reaffirms its commitment of promoting physical activity in society, family togetherness, and its desire to positively impact the communities in which it is present
