Under the theme “You Run, We Donate,” the virtual edition of the Global Energy Race 2021 of Grupo Bimbo seeks to support once again those who need it the most

Mexico City, July 20, 2021. Grupo Bimbo, the largest baking company in the world, launches its Sixth Annual Global Energy Race (GER), positioned as the Company’s most important sporting event with a cause, seeking to gather participants worldwide, put people in motion, and support those most in need.  

Under the theme “You Run, We Donate,” Grupo Bimbo shall donate 20 slices of bread to food banks for every participant enrolled. For the edition, the Company has set the goal of gathering the largest number possible of runners throughout the world, surpassing the 6 million slices donated during the 2020 edition as a result of the more than 300,000 participants throughout 127 countries in the world.

Due to the COVID-19 world health crisis and like last year, the Global Energy Race 2021 shall be held virtually and completely free of charge. Enrollments are now open at the event’s website www.globalenergyrace.com and with the new mobile app for the Global Energy Race, through which participants may find accompaniment in preparing for the race and after the same, which includes training tips, nutrition advice, healthy recipes, and monthly challenges, among other information.

Runners may choose the distance they prefer to run: 1, 3, 5 and 10 kilometers, either individually or as a family; they have from 4th to 10th October this year to complete their chosen distance. Those who prefer may participate by doing the equivalent exercises from home.               

Upon registration, each participant shall receive their Runner Number and during the following months on GER social media they will find a virtual T-shirt and medal as a filter with which they may interact on their own social media. (include if your country has no physical kit)

“Through the Global Energy Race 2020, we broke record figures for participation, thereby achieving the greatest donation of bread in history, and this year we have a new opportunity to help those most in need.
