Even though cholate-covered snack cakes, cream- and jam-filled and with chocolate sprinkles were not an entirely new idea, an innovation emerged from how they were made.
The first Gansitos snack-cake order Marinela filled was for 500 units and took 8 hours’labor to confect, since most of the process was done by hand.
The Gansito was a design, sales and advertising success that even became an institutional symbol.
The confection managed a perfect combination of a cake base, strawberry jam, cream, chocolate and nut (later chocolate) sprinkles. Soon enough it became Marinela’s most emblematic pastry.
