The company received this award for its energy efficiency in cargo transport.

Grupo Bimbo, through its subsidiary IDEAL S.A. in Chile, got the Giro Limpio (Clean Trade) certificate, a recognition awarded by the coubntry’s Energy Sustainability Agency (Agencia SE), only to those companies who credit that more than 50% of its cargo is transported with sustainable and energy efficient protocols.

This means that Grupo Bimbo’s trucks currently implement strategies and technologies that make supply chains more efficient, while reducing carbon emissions into the environment.

For Pablo Araneda, Logistics manager at IDEAL S.A., this recognition is a result of many promoted initiatives. "We are very satisfied to be part of this virtuous circle of incalculable benefits, in which Chilean institutions and international organizations collaborate in favor of the planet’s sustainability”, he commented.

Jimena Barca, Regional Head of Sustainability at Grupo Bimbo LatinSur, hoghlighted that “we are very happy to be able to participate in the Giro Limpio (Clean Trade) program in collaboration with Agencia SE. This kind of initiatives reinforce our purpose of being a sustainable, highly productive and completely human company”.

This is related to the fact that, for years, Grupo Bimbo and IDEAL S.A. have worked in benefit of the environment, with initiatives like the construction of the largest photovoltaic roof in South America (2019), which currently supplies a great percentage of the energy used in the Quilicura plant.

Working with a global vision

The previous achievements are a few grains of flour that add towards achieving Grupo Bimbo’s goal of reducing the global carbon footprint to improve the quality of life.

To achieve this, the company committed to supplying 100% of operations with renewable energy by 2025, thanks to the RE100 pact, an agreement between big multinational companies that look to boost their processes with natural energy.

This way, by investing in sustainable technology and innovation to benefit the economic continues on the right path to fulfill its philosophy and purpose of nourishing a better world.
