Today, with the presence of the Governor of Yucatán, Ivonne Ortega, Bimbo inaugurated two Sale Centers in the city of Mérida, Yucatán.
The new facilities –each built on an area of more than 15 thousand square meters- will allow GB to integrate, in a single place, several operations of their leading brands: Bimbo, Marinela, Barcel and Ricolino. This will allow establishing better controls and standardizing operations in both work centers that will jointly generate 379 new direct jobs.
During the inauguration ceremony, also attended by Álvaro Omar Lara, Municipal President of Mérida, it was announced that the South and North Mérida Centers were designed to make maximum use of natural lighting; this in line with Social Responsibility principles upheld by Grupo Bimbo, especially in what pertains to Sustainability and Environment Protection.
On this respect, Gabino Gómez Carbajal, President of the Barcel S.A. de C.V. organization, stated, “The facilities are equipped with energy-saving lamps and equipment capable of collecting and using rain water, as well as water recycling systems in the vehicle washing station.”.
The President of the Barcel S.A. de C.V. organization also stated that the South and North Mérida Centers will serve the retail, c-stores, self-service especial and vending machine channels. He ended saying: “Each Center will manage over 180 products in the categories of the bread, cookies, cakes, corn chips, snacks, confectionery products and tortillas. They will also serve each and every city in the Peninsula.”
